£450.00
Original British 17 inch x 22 inch Trade Advertisement removed from Kinematograph Weekly March 9th, 1939 for the 1939 George Marshall & Edward F. Cline Comedy YOU CAN’T CHEAT AN HONEST MAN starring W.C. Fields, Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, Mortimer Snerd, Constance Moore, Mary Forbes, Thurston Hall, Princess Baba (as herself), John Arledge, Charles Coleman, Edward Brophy, Arthur Hohl, Blacaman and Eddie ‘Rochester’ Anderson.
The owner of a debt-ridden circus contends with pursuant bill collectors and sheriffs and his beloved daughter’s relationships with one of his performers and a stuffy but wealthy young man.
Most often found in Cinema Trade magazines of the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. The two page spreads measuring 17×22 were particularly designed to be removed and used as posters by cinema managers. Very few of these trade magazines have survived and many of the adverts here are the only known British ‘posters’ for these titles.
The Advertisement is in very good condition with one vertical centre fold, staple holes and a small hole along the centre fold.
