Original British 15 1/2 inch x 12 inch Poster for the 1954 Anthony Asquith Romance YOUNG LOVERS, based on the story by George Tabori and starring Odile Versois, David Knight, Joseph Tomelty, David Kossoff, Theodore Bikel, Paul Carpenter, Peter Illing and Jill Adams.

The Young Lovers is about a young couple – she is Eastern European and the daughter of a communist ambassador, he is in American code expert working for intelligence at the American Embassy in London. At the Covent Garden Opera, watching the Swan Lake ballet, they meet and fall in love and a problem immediately confronts them because they are from different sides of the Iron Curtain. They find their every move monitored by both sides. The course of true love is eventually blocked by bureaucracy, forcing hero and heroine to escape.

The poster art is by Angelo Cesselon (1922 – 1992). Angelo Cesselon belongs to a group of poster designers particularly active in the field of Italian poster design between 1945 and 1975. His unmistakable portrait style created a new trend in film poster design of the 1950s and 1960s.
