ANXIOUS MONTH OF SEPTEMBER

Original 1977 Polish 22 1/2 inch x 32 3/4 inch Poster for the 1976 Leonid Osyka Russian Drama THE ANXIOUS MONTH OF SEPTEMBER (TREVPZHNYY MESYATS VERESEN) starring Viktor Foquin, Konstantin Stepankov, Borislav Brondukov, Antonina Leftiy and Fydor Panasenko.

The story takes place in September 1944, in a Ukrainian village that is under attack from a gang of outlaws, bandits and former German collaborators. The Soviet soldier Ivan Kapelyukh (Viktor Foquin), who was born in this village, returns home when discharged after being wounded and with his friends rises to defend the village.

Poster art by Jerzy Flisak. Flisak was born in Warsaw in 1930. In 1953 he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. His drawings were published in several Polish magazines later becoming editor of the satirical weekly Szpilki. He has produced several film posters.

The poster is in very good unfolded (rolled) condition.
