In pre-First World War Russia A.J. Fotheringill (Robert Donat), a British secret agent posing as a Russian revolutionary, is captured by Czarist authorities and sent to Siberia. With the 1917 revolution, he is released and made commissar of a small town – then entrusted with taking the lovely Countess Alexandra (Marlene Dietrich) to Petrograd for trial. Instead, they flee through Russia, on foot, by train and on the River Volga, eventually escaping on an American Red Cross train.
The still is in very good condition with a synopsis tacked to the reverse with minor surface marks.
