Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1988 Martin Scorsese Drama LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis and starring Willem Dafoe as Jesus Christ, Harvey Keitel as Judas, Barbara Hershey as Mary Magdalene, Harry Dean Stanton, David Bowie as Pontius Pilate, Paul Greco, Steve Shill, Verna Bloom, and Andre Gregory as John the Baptist.
One of the most controversial film of the 1980s is a daring, remarkable, profoundly personal work. Christ is seen as a figure with doubts and feelings, but mostly this is a traditional account of the story, impressively re-creating life in biblical times.
Poster art by Joseph Caroff. Born in 1921 Joe Caroff is known for his graphic design business he had established in 1965. He has credits in over 300 film campaigns including “West Side Story”, “Barbarella”, “The Greatest Story Ever Told”, plus Orion Film logo, the Fox trademark, 18 covers for Decca Records, 20/20, ABC News, ABC/Olympics, Turning Point, lots of NY Racing Association logos including Belmont, Aquaduct and Sarasota and probably the most famous logo for the James Bond series.
The poster is in good to very good folded condition with 2 short edge tears and minor surface paper loss at the lower left corner.
