Original 10 inch x 8 inch Portrait of JESSIE MATTHEWS in the 1932 Albert de Courville Musical Comedy THE MIDSHIPMAID, based on the play “The Midshipmaid” by Ian Hay & Stephen King-Hall.
In this musical comedy, a pompous economy expert visits the Naval Fleet in Malta to see what cuts can be made in their expenditure. The officers all fancy his beautiful daughter Celia (Jessie Matthews), who accompanies him. When she becomes engaged to the son of the First Sea Lord her father decides to leave economics to the Navy.
The portrait is in very good condition with tiny piece out of left border and minor surface marks.
