Original 9 7/8 inch x 7 3/4 inch Portrait of Russian born dancer and choreographer LEONIDE MASSINE in the 1948 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger Musical Drama THE RED SHOES, based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.

One of Powell and Pressburger’s best-loved films, The Red Shoes, is perhaps the definitive ballet movie. The film interweaves the story of an ambitious young ballerina, with that of The Red Shoes ballet which forms its centrepiece – the most dazzling flight of fantasy in Powell’s career, and scarcely matched in British cinema.
