WILLIAM TELL

Original Polish 28 inch x 39 inch Poster for the 1949 Giorgio Pastina & Michal Waszynski Italian Drama WILLIAM TELL (GUGLIELMO TELL), based on the play by Friedrich Schiller and the opera by Gioachino Rossini and starring Gino Cervi, Monique Orban, Paul Muller, Raf Pindi, Allegra Sander, Gabriele Ferzetti, Danielle Benson, Renato De Carmine, Emilio Baldanello and Enrico Olivieri.

The film portrays the adventures of William Tell in his fight for Swiss independence.

Poster art by Konstanty Maria Sopocko (1903 – 1992). Sopocko graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Warsaw University of Technology and Warsaw School of Fine Arts. He specialised in woodcuts, creating posters, advertisements, logos, bookplates and illustrations. He lectured at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

The poster is in very good unfolded (rolled) condition with a small piece out of the lower left corner. There is a small piece out of the upper right corner with paper reinforcement on the reverse. There is more paper reinforcement down the length of the right border.
