Original French 47 inch x 63 inch Poster for the 1972 Marin Karmitz Documentary Drama BLOW FOR BLOW (COUP POUR COUP) starring Simone Aubin, Jacqueline Auzellaud, Elodie Avenel, Anne-Marie Bacquie, Jean-Pierre Baronsky and Antoinette Barrois.
In the wake of the student and labour demonstrations that rocked France in May 1968, Karmitz’s leftist political activism made its way into his film work, most notably with Blow For Blow, a 1972 feature about striking female workers in a French textile factory.
Banned from many cinemas and projected around mines, community centers and factories by Karmitz himself, the film was a collaborative effort, bringing together professional and non-professional actors around a perpetually rewritten screenplay, which adapted to the colloquialisms of the workers.
