PARSIFAL

Original French 47 inch x 63 inch Poster for the 1982 Hans Jürgen Syberberg version of Richard Wagner’s Opera PARSIFAL starring Edith Clever, Armin Jordan, Robert Lloyd, Aage Haugland, Martin Sperr, Karin Krick and Michael Kutter.

Syberberg’s film depicting the mythic quest for the Holy Grail and the role of the innocent Parsifal as saviour, is a symbolic tour-de-force. Set amidst a vast death-mask of the composer it takes daring liberties with the original themes, with Wagner’s concern with Christianity reduced in significance and the title character played by 2 actors, a boy and a girl.

The poster is in good folded condition with a couple of short edge tears, corner pinholes and a full height vertical crease 2 inches in from the left edge.
