PROMISED LAND

Original French 47 inch x 63 inch Poster for the 1974 Andrzej Wajda Drama THE PROMISED LAND (ZIEMIA OBIECANA), based on the novel by Wladyslaw Stanislaw Reymont and starring Daniel Olbrychski, Wojciech Pszoniak, Andrzej Seweryn, Kalina Jedrusik and Anna Nehrebecka.

The film is set in Lódz at the end of the nineteenth century as the Polish textile industry flourishes and expensive intrigues set three businessmen at odds.

Poster art by Waldemar Swierzy (1931 – 2013). Born in Katowice, Poland, Swierzy graduated from the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts in 1952. He was subsequently Professor in the University of Fine Arts in Poznan from 1965 and Professor in the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1994. Swierzy is one of the Polish School of Posters’ most prolific artists, having created over 2500 posters.

The poster is in very good folded condition.
