Original British 17 inch x 11 inch Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1944 Charles Frend Ealing Studios Documentary Drama RETURN OF THE VIKINGS, narrated by Leon Genn and featuring Frederick Piper, Stig Egede-Nissen and Valerie Holman.

Commissioned by the Norwegian government in exile, the film follows the story of a whale skipper who becomes a paratrooper.

Advert art by Bruce Roberts (1918 – 1974). Born in Southport in 1918, Roberts studied at the Liverpool City School of Art before moving to London. During the war he initially served as a radio officer in the Merchant Navy, but by 1943 he’d joined the growing team of designers working for the Ministry of Information. He produced several posters for the General Post Office from the mid 1940s to thye mid 1950s and then for London Transport, still regarded in the 1950s as one of Britain’s most prestigious commissioners of graphic design.

The Advertisement is in very good condition with a vertical centre fold.
