Original 1851 12 inch x 9 1/2 inch Engraving titled WINDSOR FOREST.
Parkland with groups of figures in the right foreground and further out to left, sitting on and working around fallen tree-trunks, a spade lying in the left foreground.
Engraving by Thomas Abiel Prior (1809 – 1886). Line engraver; his early work was done for the publishers Henry Fisher and George Vertue and consisted of landscapes of Britain, the Mediterranean region, China, and America.
From the painting by John Linnell (1792 – 1882). An English landscape and portrait painter and engraver. Linnell was a naturalist and a rival to John Constable. He had a taste for Northern European art of the Renaissance, particularly Albrecht Dürer. He also associated with William Blake, to whom he introduced Samuel Palmer and others of the Ancients.
