Wallis starring Edward G. Robinson, Joan Bennett, Raymond Massey, Edmond Breon, Dan Duryea, Arthur Loft and Ralph Dunn.

Gentle professor Robinson is lonely in New York when his wife and children go on holiday, so he becomes embroiled with beautiful Bennettwhom he has seen in a painting. She invites him to her apartment and suddenly in rushes her angry lover who tries to strangle him, but Robinson kills him in self defence. Enter blackmailing Duryea…
