BLACK SHEEP OF WHITEHALL
£900.00
Original British 11 inch x 17 inch Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1941 Basil Dearden & Will Hay Ealing Studios Comedy THE BLACK SHEEP OF WHITEHALL starring Will Hay, John Mills, Basil Sydney, Frank Cellier, Henry Hewitt, Felix Aylmer, Thora Hird, Leslie Mitchell and George Woodbridge..
Advert art by Dudley Pout (1908 – 1991).
Co-directing, as well as starring, Will Hay is at his blithering best as the incompetent principal of a correspondence college. He stumbles across a dastardly plot involving Nazi Felix Aylmer masquerading as a famous economist so that he and treacherous journalist Basil Sydney can disrupt a vital trade pact between Britain and South America. Adopting a series of hilariously transparent disguises, Hay and sole pupil John Mills capture the villains in a corking chase sequence, with Hay (dressed as a nurse) being dragged along in a Bath chair. This wonderful wartime comedy is the neglected classic in the Hay canon.
The Advertisement is in very good condition with minor surface paper loss along the left edge.
